- I couldn't agree with you more. When the 68K emulation was first released
- by Apple it was clocked at a speed of a 25MHz 040. Given that the Power
- Amigas and PPC boards will be using a faster PPC than was originally
- available at the time that the emulation was released and that the
- software has likely been somewhat improved since then, the performance is
- likely to be higher. But for the sake of argument, lets say that all you get
- is 25 MHz 040 performance. That means that putting anything below a
- regular 040 would just slow you down. I would say putting even a faster 040
- you would still be losing, because the newer versions of the PPC and the
- emulation software will likely give you faster emulation speeds. It just
- isn't justifiable to add another CPU to a board (and like the above
- poster said, only an 060 makes sense), for what is really a stop gap
- measure while the Amiga OS is completely ported. It would add
- unnecessarily to the cost of such a board. The only reason I heard that
- the board had such an extra CPU onboard was because it was a prototype.
